Involvement with outside organisations

The nursery involves organisations from the locality and beyond to enhance the children’s learning. Visits are taken, often by public transport, to the local library and museum, to farms and the village infant school. We also regularly visit local places like Petworth Park, Winkworth Arboretum, Blackdown and Roly Poly Hill.

During the Summer term we plan a leavers program where we visit different places like Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Cowdrey and Queen Elizabeth park to really extend the skills of those children moving onto school in September and to help them work on their confidence/self-reliance as we visit places which may be new to them.

The children participate in a variety of special days where visitors are often invited to add depth to the occasion:

St George’s Day, World Book Day etc

The nursery partners with an external organisation, Greensand Forest Adventures, for out of school care.

“It’s a Thursday so it is Verity’s favourite day at nursery as she gets to eat lunch there! Unprovoked, she suddenly starts a recital of her day ‘Mummy, today I weeded the allotment. ..and I watered the plants…it was really good and there’s lots to do.'”
