Daily Routine
Nursery school should be a happy experience for both children and parents, and we make every effort to ensure that this is so. Many children are seemingly unfazed by changes to their routine and settle in to nursery school life straight away. However, it is also quite natural for children to be apprehensive about new experiences, and some children may take a little while to feel secure.
Below is an example of out 'typical' daily routine: -
- 9:15-10.00: Registration followed by a selection of adult-led activities.
- 10:00-10.20: Snack time. The children sit together for a light snack, comprising fruit and a biscuit with a drink of milk or water.
- 10.20-11.00: Children can choose their own activities from the selection provided. There are also adult-led activities taking place, in which the children are encouraged to take part (eg. craft, pencil skills, maths, experimentation, listening skills, board games etc).
- 11:00-11:15: Children help to tidy away toys, then sit in the book corner for 'circle time'.
- 11:30-12:00: As a whole group, the children sit down for an activity involving counting, singing and finding their names on the board, followed by one, or a combination, of the following activities: obstacle course, music and movement, singing, musical instruments, circle games, bean-bags, balls and hoops, parachute games, outdoor play.
- 12:00-12:15: Group story- time (in small groups).
